Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes!
We are having a blast with these girls. Every day they surprise us with new things. They kiss and hug each other, and even give Mommy and Daddy unsolicited kisses! This is a very big deal.Practicing animal names and sounds, humoring us with the family roll call (mama, dada, nana, papa, "Dack", Ben and "Bady" so far), singing and dancing all serve as the groundwork for their daily development.
At home, they love to dance to Daddy's music, gather their small toys (and shoes) into little piles, and tear all their books off the shelves. #1 on the reading list has to be: "Is Your Mama a Llama?"
They also spend a couple days a week with Robyn and little Sara Salvanelli, where they have "circle time", dance to the Laurie Berkner Band, and do arts and crafts projects.
Elmo is a very popular guy right now... so are yogurt covered raisins.
The girls are averaging a new word just about every day (today was "giraffe") but put a cell phone in a girl's hand (backwards), and she'll walk around the room yelling gibberish into it for 5 minutes.
Peek-a-boo is a big hit at our house, only instead of "Boo!" they say "Baaaaah!". They love to stand in front of the closet door and let the scarves that hang from the hooks cover their faces. Sometimes you get a "Baah" and other times, you get a poop. You gotta roll with it.
Their latest obsession has become
burrowing their heads into the back of the couch. They'll try to pull up the couch cushion whether we're sitting on them or not. Lucia, with both arms and all the strength of her little body, trying to heave up the cushion from under me - its quite a sight. A miniature body builder. A senseless exercise that she refuses to come to terms with quickly escalates into a very dramatic ordeal - screaming - the whole nine yards until I move out of the way. "Mama" is definitely the cool chic and soother of choice right now - this I'm trying to embrace until the daddy-phase inevitably begins.
